For the Year of the Snake 2025, I collaborated with Chayan, a London-based bubble tea brand blending traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern tea culture.

To celebrate Lunar New Year, I designed a limited-edition packaging collection, including festive paper bags, bubble tea cups, red envelopes, scratch-off cards, and scented cards. The design integrates cultural symbolism, refined typography, and contemporary elements, enhancing both the festive spirit and brand identity.

Festive Paper Bags

Inspired by Chayan’s modern take on traditional Chinese aesthetics and the symbolic essence of Lunar New Year, I incorporated classic Chinese window lattice patterns into the design. The surface is elegantly adorned with gold foil speckles, enhancing the festive ambiance while adding a refined, premium touch.

Bubble Tea Cups

Inspired by traditional Chinese papercut patterns, the design incorporates auspicious elements, featuring a snake coiling around a gourd in the shape of an ancient coin. In Chinese culture, the gourd (葫芦, hú lú) is a homophone for "fortune and prosperity" (福禄, fú lù), symbolizing wealth, good luck, and longevity. This blend of cultural symbolism and contemporary design enhances the festive spirit of the Year of the Snake.

Red Envelopes

Building upon Chayan’s original logo, I integrated Lunar New Year symbolism, incorporating the snake’s form and the concept of prosperity. The logo was redesigned into a Chinese knot, symbolizing good fortune, unity, and prosperity, reinforcing the festive spirit and cultural significance of the design.

Aromatic Scented Cards

A set of four fragrance-infused cards, each featuring the Chinese characters 福 (Blessing), 禄 (Prosperity), 寿 (Longevity), and 财 (Wealth), symbolizing good fortune, success, longevity, and financial prosperity. Each card carries a distinct scent, enhancing the sensory experience while embodying the essence of Lunar New Year traditions.
